Location: Coastal Georgia

The Packaging Engineer II will be responsible for developing and managing packaging design, ergonomics, and cost based on priorities. They will develop new packaging innovations while ensuring quality/cost of newly designed packaging meets the market requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Owns the creation and delivery of the packaging solutions for the Speed to Market Natural Work Team New Product and Cost Savings (ROCS) initiatives for the 1-2 year roadmaps for assigned categories. Works cross-functionally to complete projects in an efficient and effective manner.

Conduct and/or manage line tests and experiments, trials, and analyses to validate packaging specifications. Provide effective communication and documentation of work including technical plans, experimental reports, financial analysis, and management updates.

Responsible for issuing accurate packaging specifications and the required product systems updates.

Participate in new product/technology cost savings sessions with key current and potential suppliers.

Work closely with plants to address quality issues as they arise.

Provides input into Operations continuous improvement initiatives.

Builds and leverages of knowledge of packaging materials and processes to advise teams on packaging options and processes as required.

Identify, evaluate, propose and deliver innovative packaging solutions for assigned products that contribute to growth, reduce cost and/or improve quality, and keep Company ahead of the competition.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

BS, technical degree (Mechanical, Chemical or Package Engineering preferred)

Minimum of 5 years’ experience with food industry experience preferred

Technical packaging material knowledge and/or strong desire to expand deep material knowledge

Ability to apply engineering principles and statistics to solve problems and make data-based decisions

Ability to lead multiple projects in a cross-functional environment while delivering significant results

Solid verbal and written communication skills
