Our client, a major manufacturer of consumer products/foods with 18 power brands sold in almost 200 different countries and operations in 60 countries, is looking for an Operations Manager, Packaging for their plant located in the Midwest. POSITION DUTIES:

Primary role is to provide leadership as a member of the plant’s senior leadership team and to efficiently run the plant’s packaging operation. This position manages the three-shift packaging operation covering 15 million cases, 150 skus, and approximately 125 people. It is responsible for excellent customer service while minimizing inventory levels, high product quality, area safety, product cost control, and product cost reductions through squeeze and xtrim projects. Another key area of responsibility is the management of the product change process for the food business at this location. The position manages the day-to-day packaging operation while also providing for long-term business improvement.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Develops and implement actions to efficiently achieve the packaging department’s annual business objectives within the framework of the plant’s total manufacturing objectives.
• Provides leadership for the packaging management team, developing them and harmonizing their efforts to achieve the plant’s packaging objectives and, ultimately, the plant’s overall objectives within the framework of the Company’s values.
• Leads the achievement of excellent customer service through the timely production of high-quality products distributed on time to the appropriate logistical center.
• Responsible for generating an efficient daily, weekly, and monthly production schedule based on the food division’s business forecast.
• Leads the product change process working with another location’s marketing team members, R&D, packaging engineering, supply team members, and plant team resources.
• Responsible for the packaging department’s direct and fixed-cost control and optimization.
• Develops and implements significant product cost reductions both through squeeze efforts and manufacturing process improvements (xtrim).
• Provides leadership to achieve high product quality through use of the plant’s quality system.
• Is a senior member of plant management and is responsible for the plant’s overall achievement and results.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a BA or BS degree in business or related studies.
• Relocation capability to other manufacturing and logistical sites in NA.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible managerial assignments in Consumer Products, Food, or Pharmaceutical business.
• Demonstrated success of completing business improvement projects, such as cost reductions and business simplification processes.
• Ability to achieve success in a team-based environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, problem solving, decision making and computer proficiency.
