Our client is a manufacturer of well-known and loved baked goods.  They currently have an opening for a Sr.Scientist/Scientist at their location in the Midwest.

Job Description:

The Sr.Scientist/Scientist  will be responsible for driving new product innovation, line extensions and optimization of current products.  This position will work cross functionally with other teams to provide optimum shelf life while maintaining the highest product quality.

Requirements:

Education:

BS in Food Science, Food Technology, Bakery Science, or equivalent. Process Engineering and/or AIB Bakery course completion a plus.

Experience/Skills:

6-12 years of applicable R&D experience in the baking industry. Experience should include numerous successful product introductions from bench to plant commercialization. Significant manufacturing experience a plus.

Proven ability to move projects from bench to commercialization with short lead-times.

Demonstrated ability to understand and work directly with Operations team to deliver continuous improvements to existing formulas and processes.

Proven experience in leveraging suppliers in the development of projects.

Ability to manage multiple projects with various degrees of complexity simultaneously.

Possesses excellent leadership skills yet has the ability to work closely with groups outside of R&D (Operations, Marketing, Sales, Finance).

Extensive experience in designing, conducting, and analyzing storage studies.

Experience and solid understanding of consumer and sensory research.

Described by superiors and peers as: independent, self-starter, results oriented, strong problem solver, team player, good sense of humor.

Willingness to travel 30 – 50 %.
