Our client is a leading commercial, multi-product bakery with a large, national brand.  They have a new opportunity for a Quality Assurance Director at their facility on the West Coast.

Responsibilities:

Assure consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good automated manufacturing practice (GMPs) systems, validating processes, providing documentation and managing staff.  Position monitors and assures compliance with existing programs is implemented.  Monitor and control operational formulation and Quality Control standards developed by the Company or required by regulatory agencies.

General Responsibilities:

• Coordinate Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities at line operations and laboratory levels.
• Monitor and document all production line QC activities with the assistance of the QA Supervisor. Report deviations immediately to Plant Director.
• Maintain and report raw material deviations to material standards.
• Conduct various types of quality assurance inspections – visual, organoleptic and or chemical.
• Assist QA Supervisor with deviations, inconsistencies, and discrepancies.  Identify quality issues to line supervisors and recommend course of action to correct noted deviations.
• Assure corporate GMP’s are updated and associates follow all corporate and governmental standards.
• Assure sanitation standards are met and in compliance with corporate and governmental standards.
• Train new and existing employees in all areas of GMPs that affect plant sanitation and product integrity.
• Conduct appropriate lab testing on products, raw materials and equipment, as required, to assure compliance with quality standards.
• Manage and train QC Technicians to assure Quality Control procedures are monitored and documented to comply with Company and government requirements.
• With the assistance of the QA supervisor, perform quality audits to assure compliance with GMP’s, HAACP and regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements:

Must have at least 10 years’ experience in QA or related type function for commercial bakery industry.  Operations experience would be a plus.
