Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Tasks/Responsibilities:
– Build a professional, empowered R&D and QA team.
– Manage laboratory staff and R&D staff.
– Responsible for creating and maintaining SQF Documentation.
– Maintain organization of all regulatory, customer, and third-party inspections.
– Maintain budgetary commitments and a high-quality consciousness.
– Batch sheet modification approval.
– Oversee ordering and maintaining adequate laboratory equipment and supplies.
– Provide supervision of sanitation procedures and methods.
– Assist and monitor the progress in bench work and prototype new product development.
– Generate technical reports in support of Sales and Production.
– Supervise routine and non-routine laboratory testing to support Production and other departments.
– Communicate directives and provide instruction to operation supervisors in Sanitation, Processing, GMPs, Food Safety, Preventive Maintenance and Quality Control.
– Train Quality Control and R&D laboratory personnel.
– Insure timely completion of sales samples and R&D samples.
– Assist in the completion and implementation of finished product specifications.
– Vendor approval, including annual audits of supplier facilities.
– Implement the internal audit program.
– Play a major role in writing and implementing Food Safety, Security, HACCP, and Quality programs and policies.
– Ensure compliance to all group systems, guidelines and policies of private label and co-packer clients.
– Manage outside pest control provider.
– Help VP Sales in providing product samples and technical specification sheets to present and potential future clients.
– Provide technical support in maintenance of online customers’ product specifications and other required technical information.
– Work with buyer to approve raw materials including processing aids, lubricants, sanitation chemicals, and packaging supplies.
– Ensure that contractors, pest control, equipment calibration, and others meet Company’s requirements and expectations.
– Make arrangements with audit body to schedule annual audit and supervise the preparations for the audit.
– Coordinate with sales managers to help present products during their visit to buyer’s office.
– Keep GM informed of issues and actions to resolve.
– Support project completion.
– Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements:
• Ability to lift or move equipment/materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
• Ability to work with chemicals with varying degrees of toxicity.
• Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation, lab bench, etc.
• Ability and willingness to pick up and deliver materials.
