They currently have an opportunity for a Sr. Scientist, Organic & Natural Product Development at their corporate office located in the Midwest.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualize, develop and commercialize new or improved products for shelf stable or refrigerated food products and beverages within the on-trend organic and natural product categories.
• Have deep knowledge of organic and natural ingredients, flavors, claims, and trends expressed by organic and natural consumers. Prefer experiences with ancient grains, shelf-stable or refrigerated beverages, snacks or convenience foods.
• Execute the new product development process with work spanning ideation, prototype development, formula and cost optimization, shelf stability, plant capability and support, CQV and other launch support of improved or new products.
• Build strong collaborative relationships with the plant personnel, quality, procurement, corporate R&D organization, and similar functions across the organization based on roles and accountabilities.
• Be able to predict, diagnose, and mitigate ingredient or product stability issues impacting product quality and shelf stability of finished products.
• Deliver timely results on multiple active projects.
• Work independently to drive projects with minimal supervision.
• Practice and encourage creative thinking skills in order to solve complex problems.
• Be “entrepreneurial minded” and show creativity and passion for your work.
• Strive to become a subject matter expert in organic and natural product development, and develop leadership and mentoring skills.
• Be a good listener, able to integrate feedback to deliver a consumer-focused product.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or other related science/technical field is required.

Experience
• Three plus years’ product development experience in natural and organic formulations with increasing responsibility or career advancement.

Other
• A passion and appreciation for the lifestyle of organic and natural consumers.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, conflict resolution and creativity skills.
• Effective presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.
