Our client develops and manufactures high quality, innovative fruit preparations for the international milk, bakery and confectionery industries. Their success is based on expertise and innovation. They have a new opportunity for a Product Development Scientist at their location in the Midwest.

We are currently seeking a highly organized individual to manage and lead new products through bench top development, pilot plant trials and production trials for a major customer. This individual will need to effectively manage projects through close partnership with the Sales Department in an effort to meet customer requirements for timelines, performance and cost objectives. The candidate will need to have or be able to develop a strong knowledge base in stabilizers and become familiar with all plants and production lines. Ability to leverage experimental designs with relevant statistical analysis to develop new products or processes to maintain, enhance or fix product quality issues for current products is also required.

Candidates must have a BS in Food Science, along with a minimum of 3 years of product development experience in a food company, or an MS in Food Science with no experience necessary.  Expertise in formulation, process scale-up, food regulations, use of functional ingredients such as stabilizers (starches, pectins, gums), colors, flavors in fruit formulations and problem solving is a significant plus.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You must be able to provide technical support to production regarding any performance issues that arise during product launch.
