Job Description:

The Company is currently seeking a Corporate Quality Assurance Manager to lead and support their quality and food safety initiatives across material suppliers and co-packers. This Manager will be responsible for establishing, tracking and measuring programs to assure that all materials, finished products and in-house procedures comply with state, federal, customer and Company requirements. The Corporate QA Manager will perform regular assessments of the food safety system, approve creation and improvements of all current programs and take corrective actions where necessary. He/she must work well across multifunctional teams including operations, consumer affairs, marketing, finance and legal. This position reports to the COO.

Responsibilities include:

Establish consistent product quality KPI’s. Measure, report, recommend and execute corrective actions.
Taste, review and track all production samples for quality compliance.
Develop initial and subsequent modifications of the quality assurance program.  Develop areas of responsibility, personnel requirements and operational procedures within the program.
Work with suppliers concerning the quality and food safety of their products and standards.
Ensure consistent compliance with all regulatory and Company requirements by:
-Managing and coordinating the Global Food Safety Initiatives, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), and Food Safety programs. FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act).
-Serving as liaison and for all regulatory (ie: FDA, USDA, ODA, OSHA, Oregon Tilth, Orthodox Union, PVNGMO, etc.) and 3rd party auditors (ie: AIB, NFPA, etc.).
-Participating in continuing education trade association functions.

Build quality, safety, and high yields into all aspects of manufacturing processes by partnering with operations and co-packers to:
-Manage program for monitoring to ensure packaging, ingredient and finished goods are in compliance with established specifications and purchase orders. This includes plant travel.
-Develop and/or maintain a Vendor Compliance Program (product specifications, kosher certificates, organic certificates, annual audit reports, supplier complaint reports, pesticide testing reports, COAs, etc.).
-Manage regulatory process and requirements of the Company.
-Collaborate with Legal, Marketing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Operations to leverage regulations.
-Ensure that Company becomes and/or remains an approved supplier by submitting product specs, nutritional analysis, export certification, supplier questionnaires, audit follow up reports, etc. as required by customers.
-Submit all information and documentation necessary to aid customers in their product approval processes.
-Identify and provide resolution to strategic and tactical regulatory issues pertaining to food labeling.
-Communicate cross-functionally and provide training to organization regarding current and emerging food labeling issues and opportunities.
-Build and maintain specification and formula databases.
-Interact with outside organizations to ensure compliance with all set criteria, to include Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, Organic, and other programs as needed.
-Research, respond to, and resolve customer complaints proactively and thoroughly at the time they are reported.
-Assist in the development of new products.

Education:
B.S. Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
