Our client is a multifaceted company with over a quarter of a century history and rich tradition in the food ingredients industry. They are a multi-dimensional manufacturing enterprise dealing in proprietary, value-added food blends and a widely diverse range of ingredients. They are currently seeking a Sr. Food Scientist at their Research Center at their corporate location in the Midwest. The successful candidate will work in technical services, product development and applications.  This position reports to the VP of Technology.

Responsibilities:
– Plan and execute the development of new product formulations in anticaking blends (Analog Cheeses)
– Evaluate and approve new and alternative raw materials emphasizing starches and fibers
– Work with RVA (Rapid Visco Analyzer) to test viscous properties of starches, gums, and other ingredients used in analog cheese blends
– Work with texture analyzer to test strength and elasticity of products used in analog blends
– Provide technical support for existing customer accounts
– Maintain Laboratory notebook

Requirements:
– MS or Ph.D. in Food Science or related area
– Knowledge of native starches and/or starch chemistry
– Minimum of 2+ years’ industry experience
– Experience with Hydrocolloids
– Experience working with starches and fibers in any food application
– Dairy/cheese experience would be a plus
– Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to accomplish project goals while managing several projects and priorities at the same time
– Experience with experimental design and execution
