Our client is a manufacturer of high quality, fresh frozen products for the food service and retail industries. They have a new opportunity for a QA Manager at their location in New England.

Job Scope

Ensure test and quality control for production and product, and develop complex testing procedures to ensure the same.

Support the Director of the quality assurance function. Provide day-to-day oversight and coaching of QA technicians. Assist with coordination of implementation and follow-up on total quality activity to ensure that the Company’s products conform to technical specifications; meet internal and external quality expectations; and comply with all relevant standards, regulations, licenses, and certifications.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure facility compliance with food safety regulations and protocols.
  • Ensure product compliance with food safety regulations and protocols. Stickler for food safety standards.
  • Plan activities related to the quality control / lab testing. Write test procedures that are compliant with standards. Be highly diligent related to product quality.
  • Assist in auditing facilities of suppliers, and conduct risk analysis.
  • Support the Director in enforcing food safety standards and processes for the entire plant.
  • Deliver production assistance to meet product, program and quality control checks as well as safety and regulatory controls on the floor of the plant.
  • Analyze records and reports, and consult R&D / product management and manufacturing / production management on quality issues.
  • Work with shipping and inventory control to manage stock in accordance with industry and Company standards.
  • Responsible for a group of Quality Assurance technicians. Motivate the QA team members; and help develop their skills, competency and capability.
  • Support annual, internal BRC (British Retails Consortium) certification, including related audits. Support all other government audits (FDA, USDA, Health Dept).

Experience/Education

  • Experience as QA team leader.
  • Influencing skills to work across departments.
  • QA and regulatory experience in food safety.
  • Masters in Food Science.
