Our client is an international company with a first-class reputation as an innovative partner-supplier to the U.S. dairy, bakery, ice cream and beverage industries. Their standing in those industries is based on thorough product and market knowledge and expertise.  In addition, they utilize the latest innovative production technologies and a consistent high standard of quality assurance at all of their manufacturing facilities.  Their location in the Northeast currently has an opening for a QA Supervisor.

The QA Supervisor will provide food safety and quality system leadership to ensure compliance with regulations, customer requirements and Company standards. This individual will provide development, training, and coaching for technical teams.

If you are the successful candidate, you will make decisions on disposition of ingredients, in-process and finished products. You will ensure that staff is properly trained and that performance is monitored and continuously improved. This role also provides additional support as requested by the QA Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

Ensure the timely release of finished product that meets customer specifications and shipping demands.

Assist in the management and improvement of a comprehensive food safety and quality system. This includes policies, procedures, training, controls, testing, measurements, corrective actions, document control, reporting, and continuous improvement. The scope covers all ingredients and finished products.

Develop, train, coach, manage and create plans for a technical team. Ensure that roles and responsibilities are clear and communicated.

Facilitate and lead internal audit programs (GMP, HACCP, SQF, Glass & Brittle Plastic) and track corrective actions to show improvement.

Provide oversight and direction on the product hold process. Ensure disposition of non-conforming material is completed in a timely manner. Make decisions regarding non-conforming raw material and ensure completion of supplier complaint form.

Aid in the review of customer and consumer complaints as well as any internal food safety incidents.

Education Required:

BS in Food Science, Process Engineering, Food Processing, Food Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent work experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of food processing and quality assurance experience.
  • Knowledge of aseptic and conventional processes, HACCP, and GMP preferred. Knowledge of fruit preps, frozen desserts, food service, and bakery filling applications is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and with customers and suppliers.
  • Interpersonal skills to align efforts across departments to motivate and drive improvement.
  • Proficiency in SAP, MS Excel and ability to learn Qualifax.
