Our client is a whole-food supplement brand with a focus on beauty.   They currently have a new opportunity for an experienced R&D Food Technologist who can commute to their head office in the New York Metro area.

The right candidate is passionate about health, beauty, and nutrition, and will thrive in a friendly, close-knit environment to build up a young nutricosmetic brand.

If you are the successful candidate, you will report to the head R&D Manager and develop and vet the Company’s superfood and nutricosmetic products in a lab that you will help establish at the headquarters. Your work will include recommendations, analytical testing, troubleshooting, and development of raw materials as well as great-tasting, innovative finished products.

Key Responsibilities: 

Lead development of shelf-ready food products from beginning to end, testing prototypes and troubleshooting issues to support functional claims and excellent taste and usability.

Develop and source simple raw-material products, finding and working with international manufacturers to bring to market wholesome, health-effective supplements and whole foods.

Validate health and functional claims for products through testing, research, and development.

Establish a lab for proper creation and testing of products at the worksite

Act as a technical and nutritional consultant for other departments to help develop marketing, sales, branding, and customer service strategies for new and existing products.

Lead efforts to improve or fix products and help revise product messaging in response to customer and market feedback.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Food Science or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years’ direct experience as a commercial product developer in the natural health product industry.
  • Strong analytical abilities in analyzing data and testing food and supplement products.
  • Deep familiarity with nutritional testing equipment and methods to ensure quality, purity, and consistency and deliver on health benefits.
  • Experience to be able to establish a lab at the site.
  • Industry knowledge of raw material manufacturers and manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office.
