OPUS International places senior scientists and executives in companies across the US and internationally.  More than 100 major food and food ingredients manufacturers, as well as leading restaurant chains, are OPUS clients.

Areas of specialization include product development, research and development, sensory science, process engineering, quality assurance, microbiology, and analytical chemistry.

Our thorough knowledge of the Food Science industry allows us to begin working for our clients as soon as a search assignment is accepted. We partner with corporate hiring authorities in the crucial task of team building.

Moira McGrath

President

Moira McGrath is president of OPUS International, Inc., the company she founded in 1993 in response to the Food Science industry’s growing demand for highly specialized, professional executive placement assistance. Following graduation from Cornell University, Moira focused her early career on hotel and restaurant operations and management, which involved recruitment of hospitality industry executives.  This, in turn, led to interest in the deeper aspects of food as a science  — and to the careers of the people who are the industry.

In related volunteer activities, Moira has served on the Advisory Councils for both Cornell’s Food Science Department and Texas A&M University’s newly formed Nutrition and Food Science Department. In the fall of 2008, she began her term as Advisory Council member at the University of Florida’s Food Science department. In September, 2006, she began her three year term on the Board of Directors for the Institute of Food Technologists, and has served on several IFT task forces including the Task Force on Strategic Development. In South Florida, she has been involved with the local IFT Section since 1996.

She is a member of Toastmasters International in Delray Beach, Florida, and the founder of “In Search Of”, a local organization of executive recruiters. She was also a contributing author of ‘Careers in Food Science”, published in 2008.

Moira McGrath is Chairperson for the IFT Annual Meeting Scientific Program Advisory Panel. The charge is to “Ensure Annual Meeting programming on scientific research is high-quality, utilizes diverse delivery formats, and focuses on emerging science/research.” IFT Annual Meeting is in New Orleans June 11-14th. She also serves a as past chair of the  AMSPAC Education and Professional Development Subpanel.

Moira McGrath has been asked to serve again on the Cornell Institute of Food Science Advisory Council. She will begin her 4 year term in May, 2011.

Moira McGrath is serving her first year on the IFT Nominations and Elections Committee. She started her three year term in September, 2010. She also serves on the IFT Finance Committee
